We are happy to announce the movies that will be screened at the 27th Rainbow Reel Tokyo!

We are happy to announce this screening of the latest films from all over the world with themes on sexual minorities at the 27th Rainbow Reel Tokyo ~Tokyo International Lesbian & Gay film festival~.

A total of thirteen films will be shown over the course of 6 days, from July 7 to July 8 at Tokyo Women’s Plaza Hall and from July 13 to July 16 at Spiral Hall.

Fifteen of the films being screened will be shown in Japan for the very first time.  These include such acclaimed films as ‘God’s Own Country’(awarded various prizes at international film festivals in 2017) and ‘The Wound’ (which was banned in its own country).

As for Japanese films, we will screen films you can’t miss! Such as ‘Until Rainbow Dawn’, which is about the growth of a deaf lesbian couple, and ‘liFeTiMe’, a film about how a sudden family matter changed the life of a transgender person.

A lot of the screened films this year have multiple themes. They’re about family relationships, the discarding of traditional culture and conflict between women.  It can be said that the things mirrored in sexual minority films mirror the social conditions of today.

Please come to Rainbow Reel Tokyo and feel this “moment” surrounding sexual minorities!
