In
1939, an ethnographer, Annemarie, and a writer, Ella, set off on a
journey in a car to Kabul, Afghanistan. Their love for each other
grows as they travel along the Silk Road, but the dark shadows of
WWII creep up on them. Annemarie keeps on traveling further down the
Silk Road and finds what she was seeking-Kafiristan, a land that has
its own religion and customs, isolated from the surrounding Islamic
world. The film is based on an existing diary by an anthroplogist,
and successfully captures the atmosphere of the era. Directed by Jene
Seberg, Fosco Dubini, and Donatello Dubini. |
