Online talk event to mark the premiere of “No Ordinary Man” in Japan!

On Wednesday, July 7, an online talk event will be held by the Embassy of Canada to Japan to commemorate the Japanese premiere of the Canadian documentary film “No Ordinary Man” at the 29th Rainbow Reel Tokyo.

“No Ordinary Man” is about the life of Billy Tipton, a jazz musician active in the 1940s and 50s who was posthumously revealed to be transgender. One of the highlights of the film is the appearance of many transgender figures including those who appear in the popular Netflix documentary “Disclosure”.

The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, won the Best Canadian Feature at the Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival, and was selected as one of Canada’s Top Ten 2020.

At this online event, the two directors from Canada will talk about the motivation for making the film, the message they want to convey, and the situation of transgender people in North America, for the Japanese audience who will be watching the film at Rainbow Reel Tokyo. Please come and join us!
