-About TIL&GFF in general-
Q. Is the film festival held in any other cities/towns besides Tokyo? Does the event tour the country?
A. The film festival had been held in Kyoto and Osaka in the past, but at the moment it is held only in Tokyo. We regret that it is difficult for those who live far away from Tokyo to come and enjoy all the fun and great vibe of the film festival. If there are any associations interested in holding the film festival in local areas, please contact us. We would like to cooperate.

Q. I am not gay or lesbian. Can I come to the film festival?
A. Yes, of course you can!
We would like everyone to enjoy the film festival. If you encounter terms and phrases you are not familiar with when seeing a film, please do not hesitate to ask any of the festival staff. We shall be glad to have opportunities to introduce lesbian and gay culture and to raise consciousness about the interests of sexual minorities.
The Tokyo International Film Festival is not only a rare opportunity to catch variety of films, but also a festive event celebrating diversity of sexuality. It is a lot of fun just to be there you will enjoy a vibrant atmosphere, various goods and reading materials for sale in the foyer. You can meet lots of people at our festival bar (to be confirmed) and drinks are free of charge!! (Pay what you can as a donation.) So join us and have a great time.

-At the film festival-
Q. Can I reserve a seat in advance?
A. Advance seats reservation is not available. Entrance to the auditorium is in order of the number stamped on your ticket. Please arrive early and have your ticket stamped at the information desk, then come back 15 minutes before screening when the doors open.

Q. How many seats are there in the auditorium?
What numbers should be stamped on my ticket if I want to get a proper seat?
A. There are 300+ seats in the auditorium. However, number 300 does not guarantee you a proper seat, as Festival Pass holders have the first priority on entrance. If possible, arrive early and get your tickets stamped.
The information desk will open at 18:00 on the first day (July 15) and at 11:00 on other days (July 16-19).
Please note that some may find the air-conditioned auditorium a little bit too cool. It might be a good idea to bring a jacket.

Q. Do you have a policy to protect the audience's privacy?
A. Can I feel safe around a camera or a camcorder?
For protection of the audience's privacy, we have a strict policy regarding the press coverage of the Film Festival. Only those who accepted our policy and are given permission can take photographs and video images. Whenever those pictures are used in public, audiences figures will be unrecognizable (out of focus or the back view). The press wears a distinct armband. If you spot anyone taking pictures without permission, please report to the festival staff immediately.

Q. Do you plan any other events at the film festival apart from the screenings?
A. Usually, we invite guest speakers to some screenings for talks and discussions. Stage performances and other events are also planned. We host official club events at various venues during the film festival. Details and schedules for this year's events will be announced on this website at a later date.

-About screenings-
Q. I would like to see films in other languages.
Are they shown with English subtitles?

A. All the films screened at the Tokyo International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival are available in both Japanese and English. All non-Japanese language films are shown with Japanese subtitles and English subtitles are provided with all non-English language films. However, in rare cases, you may find some sequences during a film not being subtitled owing to unavoidable circumstances.

Q. I missed a film I really wanted to see. Are there any chances to catch it elsewhere? Are any of them available on videos and DVDs?
A. The Tokyo International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival showcases many films that you are unlikely to have an opportunity to see otherwise. It might even be the only chance for you to catch some of the programs in this country. Some of the programs though, are released theatrically and/or are available on videos and DVDs. You can find information on this website.
