Greeting

Welcome to Rainbow Reel Tokyo.

Recently, opportunities to see news on sexual minorities such as LGBT with words like ”multiplicity” and “diversity” have increased. If you look overseas, there is a big change more than ever including the fact that, in Taiwan, the same-sex marriage will be legislated within two years as the first country in Asia. The kind of films that have been shown at our film festival, though not many, can now be seen in common theaters, and I feel they are accepted by more people than there were a decade ago.

On the other hand, some say they have never seen sexual minorities around them. The reality is that they still find it hard to talk casually about themselves. Which comes first, the brave sexual minorities to speak out, or those around them to become more tolerant? It is hard to say.

Our sexuality is not something that we go around advertising loudly, but it’s something important that shapes what we are. Yet, for the very reason, it cannot be easily recognized.
This event is one of the few places where you can share your laughter, tears and feelings regardless of your sexualities. Thinking is important, but why don’t you just come and experience this wonderfully cozy feeling anyway?
