“8 –eight-”, the recitation play about the lawsuit against Proposition 8, will be performed as an official collaboration event of the TILGFF film festival !!

-What Proposition 8 is-
It was a proposition in California to amend the state constitution to ban same-sex marriage. It was passed by residents there six months after same-sex marriage was legalized.

This caused a wide sensation and two same-sex couples filed a lawsuit. The play is written by Dustin Lance Black, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of “Milk”. At our official collaboration event, we invite Kaori Nishio (Bird Park) as the director, who is one of the most promising young directors in the theater world in Japan.

“Mom, guess what I learned in school today.”
“What sweety?”
“I learned how a prince married a prince, and I can marry a princess.”
The event will highlight the social challenges of sexual minorities and close in on the wishes of the people who bet on same-sex marriage.
